Episodic Recreation Volunteer
To support the Recreation/Activation team by providing hands-on assistance with event set up, hospitality support by preparing and assembling food and dessert at special events for residents such as the Victoria Day Barbeque (May), Strawberry Social (June), Canada Day Barbeque (July), Peach Ice cream Social (August) and Labour Day Barbeque (September). The goal is to help create meaningful experiences, social connections, and moments of joy while bringing your own energy, creativity, and enthusiasm to our seniors’ community. * Have Food Handlers Certificate : https://www.safecheck1.com/product/food-handler-cn or would be willing to obtain certification.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Work alongside the recreation team to ensure activities and events are safe, organized and enjoyable for everyone.
Welcome and engage residents, encouraging participation and social connection.
Assist with food preparation and service for activities involving food and refreshments and following safe food-handling practices. Maintain proper food safety and hygiene while handling, serving and storing food.
Assist with set up and take down of activities, refreshments, and special events.
WHO WE ARE
NIGGV is commonly referred to as the “Village,” and since 1958, we have grown to be one of the largest providers of services for seniors in Ontario. Today, we offer 338 rental/lease apartments and 47 bungalows of independent and assisted living. This community offers a variety of amenities (chapel, library, an auditorium with shuffleboard courts, four five-pin bowling lanes, billiard room, therapeutic/recreational swimming pool, lounges, atrium and café). The Village also accommodates 40 Long Term Care suites.
